Ajay Setia (Analysis)

In Rajasthan, this time, there is a fierce rivalry between the traditional rivals, BJP and Congress. In 2014 and 2019, BJP made a clean sweep in this state by winning a total of 25 seats.

In Rajasthan, voting was held in 12 constituencies in the first phase on April 19. Among them Churus were found in Churu, Sik Jhunjhunu, Nagore, Alwar and Dausa. These constituencies are majority. BJP has fielded Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav from Alwar constituency. He is originally from Haryana. Congress has nominated Lalit Yadav against him. Congress raised the issue of Bhupendra Yadav not being a Bhoomiputra in the campaign. In response, the BJP brought up the issues of Shri Ram Mandir, abrogation of Article 370 and Modi's guarantee.

In the second phase, voting was held in thirteen constituencies in Rajasthan. Among them Pali, Bhilwara, Rajsamand, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jhalawar are considered safe for BJP. Here there is a large traditional voter who believes in BJP. However, it cannot be denied that Congress posed a challenge to BJP in the second phase as well.

Independent candidate Ravindra Singh Bhati's votes in Barmer-Jaisalmer constituency can be decisive. Accordingly, the vertical of victory and defeat will be up and down. He can get the votes of Rajput community and native OBC community. BJP has fielded MP Kailash Chaudhary and Congress has fielded Beniwal. State President of BJP in Chittorgarh Constituency C. P. Joshi is in the ring.

Congress has given a chance to former minister Udayalal Anjana against him. He has been elected to the Legislative Assembly as many as six times. From the Tonk-Sawai Madhopur constituency, BJP has given a chance to sitting MP Sukhbir Singh Jonapuria, while Congress has given a chance to MLA Harish Meena. It is expected that this fight will be colorful. At this point the opinion of Gurjar and Meena community can be decisive. Since Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has entered the fray from Kota constituency, the whole country has focused on this seat. Birla is facing a challenge from Prahlad Gunjal, who joined the Congress from the BJP. Both these candidates are considered strong.

Former Chief Minister's life in the ring

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's Chiranjeev Vaibhav has entered the fray on Congress ticket from Jalore-Sirohi constituency. He had lost from Jodhpur in the last election. Gehlot comes from the Mali community and the views of the Mali community are important in this constituency. However, this society is considered to be a supporter of the BJP. In the last election, Congress had to lose here by a margin of 2 lakh 61 thousand votes.

Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's son Dushyant Singh has entered the fray on a BJP ticket in Jhalwara constituency. They see no problem in winning. Apart from this, there is a strong rivalry between BJP and Congress in Jodhpur constituency. BJP has fielded Mahendrajit Singh Malviya in Baswada, a tribal-dominated constituency. He was a minister in the Gehlot cabinet. Their side appears to be strong.
