Social media platform 'X' suspends more than 2 lakh accounts in India | leader









Leader Online Desk : Elon Musk's social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has suspended 2 lakh 12 thousand 627 accounts in India between February 26 and March 25. The micro-blogging platform has clarified that all these accounts have been penalized for violating the rules.

Social media platform X has released its monthly compliance report. The company suspended over 213,000 accounts in India between February 26 and March 25 to comply with the new 'IT' rules, 2021. Additionally, X has taken action against 1,235 accounts promoting terrorism on its platform in India. 5,158 complaints were received from users in India during this period.

“There have been several measures over the past few days to take action against those who promote child sexual abuse and terrorism on our platform. The Company does not tolerate any text, photos and videos that feature or promote child sexual abuse. The Company has clarified that such type of text, pictures or computer-generated images have been deleted.
