Leaders Online Desk: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested in connection with the alleged liquor scam. The ED has taken this action late today (21st). Meanwhile, AAP workers protesting outside Kejriwal's residence were detained by the police.
Late tonight, ED officials and a large contingent of police arrived outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence. Many activists were outside Kejriwal's residence. But ED took a major action by arresting him today. It was also seen that activists became aggressive after this action. After his arrest, it was also seen that AAP activists became aggressive.
After this arrest, AAP leader Atishi while talking to the media said that he has rushed to the Supreme Court. She said, “We have received news that ED has arrested Arvind Kejriwal. We have always said that Arvind Kejriwal will run the government from jail. He will remain the Chief Minister of Delhi. We have filed a case in the Supreme Court. Our lawyers have approached the SC. We will demand an urgent hearing from the SC tonight.”
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal filed a petition in the High Court seeking protection from arrest in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. A hearing was held on this today (March 21). Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court refused to grant Arvind Kejriwal any interim protection from severe action. The court said that we are not inclined to grant interim relief at this stage. Meanwhile, the court has sought a reply from the ED on this petition. The next hearing in this case will be held on April 22. (Delhi excise policy case)
