Leaders Online: The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to install rooftop solar to one crore families. 75,021 crores will be spent on this scheme. “The cabinet meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi. In this, 'PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana' has been approved today. Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed that one crore families will get 300 units of free electricity under this scheme. PM Modi launched this scheme on February 13, 2024. Under this scheme, there is a provision of central financial assistance of Rs 30 thousand for 1 KW system, Rs 60 thousand for 2 KW system and Rs 78 thousand for 3 KW or more system. Every household can apply for subsidy through the national portal and select the right vendor for rooftop solar installation.
The Cabinet has also approved nutrient-based subsidized rates on phosphatic and potassic fertilizers for Kharif season 2024 (April 1, 2024 to September 30, 2024). 3 new fertilizer grades will be covered under this scheme. The government will provide a subsidy of Rs 24,420 crore on NBS based nutrients,” Thakur added. (PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana)
