Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 55 percent voting in Maharashtra in the first phase, highest in Tripura and lowest in Bihar









New Delhi, Pudhari News Service : Lok Sabha Elections 2024 : Despite the heat wave in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, polling across the country was conducted smoothly and peacefully. In the first phase of the 2024 general elections, 21 states/UTs voted for the 18th Lok Sabha, including assembly polls for Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. The average voter turnout was over 60% till 7 pm in 21 states/UTs. According to the Election Commission, the highest turnout till 7 pm was recorded in Tripura (79.90%) and the lowest in Bihar (47.49%). Whereas in Maharashtra, 55.29% polling took place.

The first phase of voting for the 18th Lok Sabha took place on Friday (April 19) in the country. Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim assembly elections were also held in this. Meanwhile, voting for 102 Lok Sabha seats was held on Friday. This includes 5 constituencies namely Nagpur, Ramtek, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli Bhandara-Gondia in East Vidarbha of Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, in this election, the Election Commission focused on providing facilities for voting in tribal areas including various constituencies. Therefore, 56 villages of Bastar in Chhattisgarh voted for the first time at the polling station set up in their own village. Local tribal dialects were used at some booths in Maharashtra like Gadchiroli-Chimur, Hemalakasa which had all the relevant information.

The Election Commission of India announced the percentage of voting till 7 pm on Friday. However, it was also said on behalf of the commission that there may be a change in this percentage. In some places, polling starts till late. The Commission also said that there may be a delay in getting clear information about all of them.
