On behalf of the Congress Party, the North-South Bharat Jodo Padayatra was organized from October 2022 to January 2023. On this yatra, Rahul Gandhi traveled from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. The Yatra started on 7th September 2022 from Kanyakumari. The main objective of this walk was to spread the message of unity, harmony and peace in the country. Rahul Gandhi met people in various states and cities during the yatra. The second phase of this yatra 'Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra' was held between January and March before the Lok Sabha elections.
Significant success of Congress compared to 2019 election
of 'Indian Express' According to reports, Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra was conducted through 71 Lok Sabha constituencies. Congress contested the election in 56 Lok Sabha constituencies out of them. Elections have been won in 23 of these places. In comparison, out of the same 65 constituencies in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress won only 15 seats. India Aghadi had contested in 14 out of 71 seats that Rahul Gandhi had walked in this election. 6 of these seats have been won.
A total of 82 Lok Sabha constituencies were included in Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra, which was conducted before the Lok Sabha elections. Congress contested elections in 49 constituencies. 17 of these constituencies have been won. Considering the previous i.e. 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress had contested in the same 71 Lok Sabha constituencies and won only 6 seats. Considering India Aghadi, out of the 82 Lok Sabha constituencies that Rahul Gandhi has nominated this year, allies contested in 33 seats. 18 of these seats have been won. In 2019, the Congress allies contested the election in the same 10 Lok Sabha constituencies, but won in only one constituency. From these statistics, the impact of Rahul Gandhi's visit to India on the Lok Sabha elections is clear.
State wise outcome of Bharat Jodo Yatra
Maharashtra: Congress and its allies seem to have benefited from Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra in Maharashtra. The first leg of the Yatra covered six Lok Sabha constituencies of Maharashtra. Four of these seats have been won by India Aghadi while in the second phase of the yatra, India Aghadi has won five out of eight seats.
Haryana: Bharat Jodo Yatra traveled through five Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. One of these constituencies has been won. Won the seat.
Jammu and Kashmir: Bharat Jodo Yatra traveled through four constituencies. Two of these seats have been won by India Alliance.
Karnataka : Congress candidates have won three of the seven Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.
Kerala : India Yatra traveled through 11 constituencies in the state. Here Congress has won 7 and its allies two.
Punjab: Bharat Jodo Yatra was taken out from six constituencies in the state. Five of them were won. Congress and AAP India were part of the alliance. Although they fought together in Delhi, they fought separately in Punjab.
Rajasthan: Bharat Jodo Yatra traveled through five constituencies. India Aghadi has won in 3 of these constituencies.
Tamil Nadu: One of the two constituencies has been won by Congress and the other by its ally DMK.
Uttar Pradesh: Rahul Gandhi traveled through 20 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. Congress has won in 3 constituencies and Samajwadi Party in 5 constituencies.
Bihar: Out of the seven constituencies in Bihar, the Congress won three seats and its allies won two seats.
West Bengal: Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra traveled to nine constituencies. Trinamool has won five seats and Congress one.
Assam: Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra traveled to six Lok Sabha constituencies. Congress has won three seats here.
Jharkhand: Out of the seven Lok Sabha constituencies, Prabhas won one seat and its allies won one seat.
Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra traveled to 5 constituencies in Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland. Congress has won three seats here.
'Add India' did not affect 'this' state
Andhra Pradesh did not seem to be affected by the Bharat Joda Yatra. Bharat Jodo Yatra was organized in two Lok Sabha constituencies of this state. Also Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi has not won a single seat this year. Even in Himachal Pradesh, the slate of Congress has remained blank. In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress could not win a single seat in the seven Lok Sabha constituencies included in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Bharat Jodo traveled from seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana state. Here too there was disappointment on the part of the Congress. Five constituencies were included in the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra in Gujarat but it did not result. Four Lok Sabha constituencies in Chhattisgarh, where the Bharat Jeda Padayatra was taken out, have turned their backs on the Congress. Congress had won one seat here in 2019.
