The commission's visit to Jammu and Kashmir will come after the Supreme Court directed that assembly elections in the Union Territory (UT) be held by September. The Center had then asked the panel to assess whether assembly elections in Union Territories could be held concurrently with Lok Sabha elections. Therefore, when getting more information about this, “Once the assessment is completed, after the meeting on Wednesday, the Commission may announce the dates of the Lok Sabha elections on Thursday or Friday,” experts are predicting.
