Heat wave: 8 to 11 days heat wave in May; Including Vidarbha-Marathwada

New Delhi, Leading News Service: The Meteorological Department has predicted that heat wave is likely to occur for 8 to 11 consecutive days in some parts of the country in the month of May. This also includes Vidarbha-Marathwada in Maharashtra. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, heat wave is likely to last for 8 to 11 days in parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, South Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar and parts of southern peninsular India experience 3 days of heat wave every year in May. But in the month of May, the heat wave is predicted to last for 5 to 7 days. Director General of Meteorological Department M. Mohapatra informed that, “There is an average heat wave of three days in the month of May. But this year the number of heat wave days may be higher.”

According to the Meteorological Department, South Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Gujarat regions are likely to experience heat wave for about 8 to 11 days in the month of May. Whereas maximum temperature is likely in most parts of the country except the adjoining parts of North-East, North-West, Central India and North-East Peninsula.

Rainfall forecast in 'these' states during the month of May

Along with the heat wave, the Meteorological Department has also predicted rain in some states in the month of May. Heavy to very heavy rains are forecast over Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. While Odisha, North Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, South West Bengal, some parts of North East, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala are likely to receive rain.
