Vikrant Massey, Riddhi Dogra and Raashi Khanna starrer film The Sabarmati Report has been released. The length of the film is 2 hours 3 minutes. Dainik Bhaskar has given this film a rating of 2.5 stars out of 5.

The Sabarmati Report is a crime-thriller film based on the 2002 Godhra incident. In this film, an attempt has been made to expose the truth about the fire that took place in S6 bogie of Sabarmati Express on 27 February 2002 and the 59 kar sevaks who were killed in it. The story of the film revolves around a Hindi journalist named Samar Kumar (Vikrant Massey), who struggles to uncover the real truth about this incident. Riddhi Dogra and Raashi Khanna also play important roles in the film.

What is the story of the film? 'The Sabarmati Report' stars Samar Kumar (Vikrant Massey), a Hindi journalist who covers the film beat. She has always been looked down upon by the film industry and English speaking journalists. Manika (Riddhi Dogra), on the other hand, is a sharp-tongued English news anchor who has clout in the media.

At Godhra, on 27 February 2002, 59 kar sevaks die when S6 bogie of Sabarmati Express catches fire. Manika goes to Godhra to cover the incident and takes Samar along as her camera man. Samar considers this as the 'golden chance' of his career. But Samar is shocked when Manika, at the behest of her boss, turns the tables on the entire incident and presents a false report to the public. He prepares his report to reveal the truth, but is not only fired from the job by the channel boss but also sent to jail for camera theft.

Samar's life becomes full of struggles—jobless, addicted to alcohol, and away from society. Meanwhile, the fear of exposing false news after the Nanavati Commission report is haunting the channel officials and Manika. Manika sends her channel's new reporter Amrita (Raashi Khanna) to Godhra, so that she can solidify her report and put the blame on the state government.

Amrita gets the video of Samar's report, and convinces him to take it with her to Godhra. Thus, together they reach the truth of the Godhra incident and bring before the world the tragedy that happened to those innocent 59 people.

How is the acting of the star cast? Vikrant Massey has done an excellent job in the role of Samar Kumar. Looking at his dialogue delivery and emotional depth, it seems that he was completely dedicated to this role. His struggle to find the truth of the Godhra incident can be felt on the screen. Riddhi Dogra has also given an effective performance in her character Manika, and her role has dark negative shades. Raashi Khanna has played the character of Amrita well, although her role seems a bit incomplete in some scenes.

How is the direction? Dheeraj Sarna has directed the film and focuses on a sensitive issue. However, there are some flaws in the screenplay and storyline in the first part of the film. Some light comic scenes have been inserted without any reason, which do not match with the serious issue. The second part of the film increases some thrill. But the climax seems a bit weak. As the aim of this film was to show the truth of the murder of 59 innocent people, in the end the audience does not get any new information which has already been seen in the media and newspapers.

How is the music of the film? The music of the film is simple, and only the song “Raja Ram” sounds impressive. The rest of the music doesn't attract much attention.

Final Verdict, watch or not? 'The Sabarmati Report' can be watched by those viewers who want to get information about the Godhra incident in a filmy style. However, the film does not completely succeed in doing justice to its subject. There are some shortcomings in its story and presentation, but the brilliant performances of Vikrant Massey and Riddhi Dogra make it worth a watch.
