Leaders Online: China's boom has become unstoppable. Now China has released its fourth list of 30 new names for various places in India's northeastern Arunachal Pradesh. Through this, China has once again tried to claim Arunachal Pradesh. China has changed the names of various places along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal. But India has rejected this claim of China. India's External Affairs Ministry has told China that Arunachal Pradesh 'was, is and always will be an integral part of India'. This is not the first time that China has tried to change the names of places within Indian territory. Earlier, China has tried to claim many places. The Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs on Monday made a fresh attempt to claim some seats in Arunachal Pradesh by setting up administrative divisions and changing the names of the places.
China released a list of so-called 'authenticated' geographical names in Arunachal Pradesh. known to Beijing as Zhangnan, according to the Global Times, the official newspaper of the Chinese government. The 30 places named by China include 12 mountains, 4 rivers, 1 lake, 1 mountain pass, 11 residential areas and a piece of land. Apart from this list of names, the Chinese ministry has also shared a high resolution map of detailed latitude and longitude and regions.
In 2017, China released the first list of 'authenticated' names for six places in Arunachal Pradesh. They had come up with another list in 2021 which included 15 places. Another list containing the names of 11 additional places was released in 2023.
Meanwhile, India has repeatedly rejected China's attempt to claim territory in Arunachal Pradesh. India has taken a firm stand that Arunachal is an integral part of India and even if China changes the names of places in Arunachal, the reality does not change and this has no effect.
