Actually, preparations are underway to resume the Champions T20 League, played between franchises around the world or winners of domestic T20 leagues. Cricket Boards of India, Australia and England are discussing in this regard. The tournament was last organized in 2014.
Cricket Victoria CEO Nick Cummins said, 'All cricket teams around the world have busy schedules. It makes hosting the Champions T20 League challenging. But still discussions are going on between Cricket Australia, ECB and BCCI about resuming the tournament. It will also feature the first Champions League between women's teams. In which teams from WPL, Women's Big Bash League, The Hundred will play.' (Champions League T20)
Different T20 teams from around the world used to play in the Champions League. The tournament was held for six seasons between 2009–10 and 2014–15. In 2014, the Champions T20 League final was played between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, with MS Dhoni's team winning the title. Three teams from India, two each from Australia and South Africa and one each from Pakistan, West Indies and New Zealand participated in that tournament. Teams from England and Sri Lanka have also played in this tournament. The league has been played four times in India and twice in South Africa. India's Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have won the Champions T20 League title twice. While Australia's New South Wales and Sydney Sixers have won the tournament once each.
