Leader Online Desk : Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party and Jannayak Janata Party alliance in Haryana is on the verge of a split. It is likely to be announced in the legislative party meeting today. There was no consensus between BJP and JJP on seat sharing in the Lok Sabha elections. Jannayak Janata Party has called a meeting in Delhi. Senior party leaders and MLAs will participate in the discussion to be held at Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala's residence. According to the sources, the new leader will be selected in the legislative party meeting. Union Minister Arjun Munda and BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh are currently going to Chandigarh as observers for this.
It will be decided in this meeting whether the party will contest elections under the leadership of Manohar Lal Khattar or a new face will come forward. Independent MLAs will also participate in this meeting. Haryana BJP in-charge Biplav Dev has also reached Chandigarh, while Haryana BJP president Naib Saini will also attend the meeting.
On Monday, March 11 evening, Chief Minister Khattar also held an informal meeting of the Cabinet at his residence late in the evening. Many ministers including Home Minister Anil Vij, Education Minister Kanwarpal Gurjar, Agriculture Minister JP Dalal were present in it. Deputy Chairman Ranbir Gangwa was also present in this meeting. According to sources, many important issues including Lok Sabha elections were discussed in the meeting.
BJP-JJP Alliance: What is the reason for the rift in the 'BJP-JJP' alliance?
Assembly elections were held in Haryana in October 2019. BJP won 40 out of 90 seats. Wanjich, who was short of a majority, finally formed an alliance with Dushyant Chautala's Janayak Janata Party, which had a strength of 10 MLAs. Dushyant Chautala became the Deputy Chief Minister. Chautala discussed Lok Sabha seat allocation with BJP National President JP Nadda on Tuesday, March 11. In 2019, BJP had won all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana. Now BJP is preparing to fight the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on its own; but JJP has demanded two seats. It is being discussed in the political circles of Haryana that the difference between the two parties has increased due to this seat allocation.
