Leader Online Desk : Bank Open on Sunday : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has taken a major decision and decided to keep banks open on Sunday, March 31. RBI has informed about this decision by posting on social media platform X. The RBI statement said that all banks will remain open on March 31, 2024 despite it being a Sunday. This decision has been taken as the current financial year 2023-24 is the last day.
Financial transactions must be recorded in the same financial year
The RBI has said, 'The annual end of the financial year is on 31st March. So all banks will remain open. The instructions sent to all the banks said that the transactions till the end of the financial year should be reported in the same year, so all the banks have been asked to act. All banks will open and close as per their regular hours on Sunday, March 31. All banks will be open on Saturday too. Apart from this, NEFT and RTGS transactions will also continue till 12 midnight. Apart from this, special provision will also be made for clearing government cheques. However, the stock market will remain closed.
All income tax offices will remain open
Earlier, the Income Tax Department had decided to keep all its offices open. Saturday and Sunday holidays including Good Friday were also canceled by the department. Good Friday is on March 29. March 30 is Saturday and March 31 again is Sunday. So it was a long holiday of 3 days. Due to this, many works of the department would be stopped at the end of the financial year. The financial year 2023-24 will end on March 31. Therefore, IT offices across the country will continue to function on March 29, 30 and 31, the Income Tax Department said.
