New Delhi, News Agency: Rishabh Pant, who is ready to make a fresh start in professional cricket after recovering from a fatal accident, has been given the leadership of Delhi Capitals for this year's IPL. Earlier, Rishabh Pant had to stay away from cricket for 14 months due to an accident in December 2022.
It is a great pleasure to welcome Rishabh Pant as the captain. He has actually shown his aggressive style and due to this contract, he is fit and ready for the new innings. Delhi Capitals President and Co-Owner Parth Jindal mentioned in a press release that we are already curious as to when he will actually enter the field in the new season.
Left-armer Rishabh Pant attended the training camp in Visakhapatnam, where he was found to be fully fit. Delhi's first match of the season will be played on March 23 against Punjab Kings in Chandigarh. BCCI has also cleared Rishabh for this year's IPL. (Rishabh Pant)
Rishabh Pant is fully fit to play the upcoming IPL tournament as a wicketkeeper-batsman after a long 14-month long recovery, the BCCI had earlier said in a release. Delhi coach Ricky Ponting also explained that Rishabh Pant's comeback is very important for the team.
“We missed Pant a lot last season. Rishabh has made the team much stronger and his footwork and batting during practice shows that he is fully fit,' observed Ponting. In Rishabh Pant's absence last season, Delhi was handed over to Australian veteran David Warner. However, at that time this team was thrown to the ninth position with 5 wins and 9 losses.
