Similarly, today (April 1) Director General of Indian Meteorological Department Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra has said that there is a possibility of more than normal heat wave in the plains during April to June. The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases across the country from April to June. During this period, the maximum temperature is likely to be above normal in most parts of the country, the Indian Meteorological Department has mentioned in its 'publication sheet'.
These states are most affected by the heat wave during the months of April-June
The Meteorological Department has said in a press release, “There is a possibility of severe heat in many parts of the country between April and June. During this heat wave is likely to last for about 10 to 20 days. Western Himalayan region, northeastern states and some parts of North Odisha may also see a change in temperature. Also during April to June the states of Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, North Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, North Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh will see the maximum impact of the heat wave.”
There will be intense heat in many parts of the country
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is likely to remain normal to below normal in the months of April and June in Western Himalayan region, northeastern states and some parts of North Odisha. At the same time, the maximum temperature is likely to be above normal in most parts of the country during April, with a higher probability in Central South India.
