Supreme Court hits Asaram Bapu, plea for remission of sentence rejected | leader









New Delhi; Leadership career Asaram Bapu has received a blow from the Supreme Court today. The Supreme Court has refused to consider Asaram Bapu's plea seeking stay of punishment in the rape case on health grounds. The Supreme Court has advised Asaram to approach the Rajasthan High Court for treatment at a hospital in Maharashtra while in police custody.

A bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta was hearing Asaram Bapu's plea against the Rajasthan High Court order. In fact, the High Court had rejected the fourth stay of sentence application, saying that if Asaram was allowed to undergo voluntary treatment instead of police custody, law and order would be disturbed.

The court said that in view of the fan following of the appellant, we are of the view that he should be allowed to seek hospital treatment while still in police custody.
