Supreme Court grants pre-arrest bail to Mukhtar Ansari's son Umar

New Delhi, Leading News Service: The Supreme Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to Umar Ansari, son of notorious Uttar Pradesh don Mukhtar Ansari, in the case of threatening a Mau district administration officer and violating the code of conduct during the 2022 assembly elections.

Ahead of the third phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh, the Allahabad High Court had rejected Umar Ansari's anticipatory bail plea. Umar Ansari had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against it. A bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and Prashant Kumar Mishra granted anticipatory bail to Umar Ansari while hearing the petition.

The court directed that Ansari should be present and cooperate if the investigating agency calls for an inquiry. Umar Ansari is alleged to have gathered a crowd of 150 people during the 2022 assembly elections, threatened the Mau district administration and violated the code of conduct.
