Share Market Closing Bell | After a record high, the market is sluggish! Sensex closes at 73,903, small, midcap gains | leader


Leaders Online Desk: After hitting a record high in Monday's session, the bullishness of the Indian stock market took a break on Tuesday. Sensex and Nifty closed flat in today's volatile session. The Sensex closed down 110 points at 73,903. While the Nifty settled at 22,453 with a marginal decline of 8 points. (Share Market Closing Bell)

Sector-wise, Realty, Metals, Oil & Gas, Media, Power and Auto gained 1 percent each. While the IT and Telecom index fell by 0.5 percent. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rose 1.1 per cent each.

Mixed global cues and profit booking led to some dips in today's trading session. Also adding to the market pressure was the possibility of a delay in interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve.

Shares of HCL Tech, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, TCS, Infosys, Bharti Airtel fell on the Sensex. While shares of M&M, Nestle India, Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank, JSW Steel, IndusInd Bank, Ultratech Cement rose by 1 to 3 percent.

Hero Motocorp, Kotak Bank, HCL Tech, ICIC Bank, SBI Life were the top losers on Nifty. While Tata Consumer, M&M, BPCL, Bajaj Auto, Adani Ports were the top gainers.

Shares of Tata Technologies rose

Shares of Tata Technologies rose around 6 percent today. Shares of Tata Technologies rose after its joint venture agreement with BMW Group to set up automotive software and IT development hubs in Pune, Bangalore and Chennai. Meanwhile, the shares were up 4 percent at Rs 1,092 in afternoon trade on the NSE. (Tata Technologies Share Price)

Shares of Adani Ports also rose

Shares of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) rose nearly 3 percent. The stock touched a high of Rs 1,424 on the NSE. It then settled at Rs 1,404, up 2 percent. The stock has gained 14 percent in the last eight sessions. (Share Market Closing Bell)
