Russia Presidential Election: Major Drone Attack From Ukraine On Final Day Of Voting | leader


Leader Online Desk : Today (March 17) there are reports that Ukraine has attacked Metha Drain while the voting for the presidential election is going on in Russia. Russia's TASS news agency reported that four Ukrainian drones were downed in Moscow and 35 elsewhere overnight, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has clarified that there were no casualties in this attack. Meanwhile, for the first time in Russia, voting for the presidential election is going on for three consecutive days.

Russia destroys 35 Ukrainian drains

According to the Ministry of Defense, two Ukrainian drones were shot down in Kaluga region south of Moscow and Yeroslavl region northeast of Moscow. The attacks on the Yaroslavl region were the most far-reaching attacks ever carried out by Ukraine. The area is about 800 kilometers (500 mi) from the Ukrainian border. Four in Moscow city and 35 other Ukrainian drones have been shot down overnight. The Ministry of Defense also confirmed that two people were killed and three wounded in Ukrainian firing in the Russian border city of Belgorod.

The Russian military claimed that it foiled a cross-border infiltration attempt by Ukrainian subversion and reconnaissance groups on Saturday. It released a video on social media on Saturday claiming to have captured 25 Russian soldiers. The claim could not be independently verified. Cross-border attacks in the region have been sporadic since the start of the war.

The upper house of the State Duma in Russia initially announced March 17, 2024 as the date for the presidential election. But after this the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) had clarified that voting in the presidential election will be held between March 15 and 17. For the first time, three days of voting are being held for the presidential election in Russia. Vladislav Davankov, Leonid Slutsky and Nikolay Kharitonov are running against Putin in this election.

Vladimir Putin became president for the first time in the 2000 presidential election. After this, Putin retained power in presidential elections held in 2004, 2012 and 2018. Even now, it is believed that Putin will succeed in keeping the power of Russia in his hands for the next six years.
