Relief to Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein in rape case: Court changes old decision; Four out of 7 judges against the sentence

The New York Court has reversed the trial court's decision regarding Hollywood's veteran producer Harvey Weinstein, who is serving a sentence in a rape case. Out of the bench of 7 judges, 4 judges were against the punishment while 3 judges were in favor of the punishment. The #MeToo movement started only after the allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

Harvey Weinstein was accused by more than 80 women of sexual harassment. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the sexual assault of production assistant Mimi Haley and three years for the rape of actress Jessica Mann.

This case was heard by a jury of 12 members in New York Court. After a trial that lasted nearly six weeks, Weinstein was convicted on two counts of rape and sexual violence. Harvey Weinstein faces prison through 2022 due to rape conviction.

More than 80 women have accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual abuse over a period of 30 years. Big newspapers like New York Times and New Yorker published reports on this.

Hollywood actress Alyssa Milo also made allegations. Meanwhile, someone tagged him on social media and wrote that he should express his views through #MeToo. Milo did the same. More than 32 thousand women shared their stories using this hashtag.

Its impact was such that women who were victims of sexual harassment joined this movement. After returning from America, Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of misbehavior. Tanushree accused Nana Patekar and choreographer Ganesh Acharya. Actor Alok Nath and director Vikas Bahl also came under the scanner of allegations. Kangana accused Vikas and Vineeta Nanda accused Aloknath. There was also a heated exchange of words between Kangana and Sonam Kapoor.
