Many people travel by train in India. Train travel is also considered comfortable. Many times while traveling we do not get confirmed train tickets. In that case, the passengers take the ticket on waiting. However, if the ticket is not likely to be confirmed or for any other reason, the ticket has to be cancelled. In that case some fee is charged by Indian Railways to cancel the ticket. Railways have earned a lot through this fee.
Through the Right to Information Act, Indu Tiwari obtained information in this regard from the Railway Department a few days ago. According to the information obtained by them, in the financial year 2022-23, the Railways earned Rs 2 thousand 109 crore from ticket cancellation fees, while in the financial year 2023-24, it has earned Rs 1 thousand 762 crore till December 2023.
