Read the highlights of the conversation with Nora Fatehi..

Tell us something about the character in the film?

I am playing the character of Sophia. Who is a cabaret dancer. When she enters Vasu's life, a lot of things change. Varun Tej is playing the role of Vasu in this film. My look is very different in this film.

What was the most difficult thing during the shooting of the film?

The most difficult thing for me in this film was to talk in Telugu. The director of the film worked very hard on my character and language. The first day's shoot was with Varun. The dialogues were so long that I could not sleep the whole night. I was worried all night wondering how I would be able to speak such long dialogues. I felt like I was going crazy. When I reached the set, Varun made me feel very comfortable.

How much did Varun Tej help you in learning Telugu?

He definitely helped a little. I have worked very hard for this film. My character's entry in the film is through a song. He got injured during the shooting of that song, but the shooting of the film had to be completed in five days. So I shot the song for the film without caring about the pain. After that I did not shoot any film for a month. Working as an actor in this film has been a different journey for me.

When this film was offered to you, what were your reactions to this film?

I was very happy. I have been working in Telugu industry for seven years. Have performed on many songs. Performed the song for the first time in Junior NTR's film 'Temper'. I have also sung in Varun Tej's film. That's when I told Varun that I am singing only because I want to act. Look, today I got a chance to work in his film.

What were your preparations before entering the industry?

I had not made any preparation. I thought that I would become a star as soon as I reached Mumbai. I packed my clothes and came to Mumbai. After coming here, I realized that there is a lot to learn. I did not know Hindi language. Hindi was a foreign language to me. First of all he learned Hindi and prepared himself as a performer.

Which actress has you been inspired by?

I had never thought of working in Bollywood. Before coming into the industry, I had seen films like 'Devdas' and 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. This thought was running in my mind that only Indian girls can become actresses in Bollywood. When I saw Katrina Kaif and Jacqueline Fernandes working here, I felt that it is possible that I can also do it. Then I started giving a lot of auditions.

What kind of experiences were there in the beginning?

I gave a lot of auditions. People used to make fun of the language a lot. First of all I worked very hard on myself and the language. This industry has given me a lot. By now I have understood that anyone can progress with their hard work. The doors of the industry are open for everyone.

What things do you remember when you look back?

I have reached here by doing small roles. I used to ask people to think about me too. Before saying this I used to think many times how to say it. After singing 'Dilbar', everyone thought that I could only sing, but I had to act. I felt like I was getting typecast in the song. I started giving auditions. Kunal Khemu gave me a chance in 'Margao Express'.

People took advantage of your simplicity and did not even pay for the work?

Apart from 'Dilbar', I have done many songs for free. Earning money was not my aim at that time. Did not enter the film industry to earn money. There are many other things to do to earn money. I had to prove myself in the industry. Therefore did not demand money. People have a lot of options in the industry. If not me then someone else will do it. The biggest thing for me was getting the opportunity. To prove yourself in the film industry, you have to make compromises. I don't see anything wrong in this.
