PM Ujjwala Yojana | Important news for 'Ujjwala Yojana' beneficiaries; Extension of LPG subsidy









Leaders Online Desk: There is good news for the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The Cabinet meeting was held yesterday (7th) under the chairmanship of PM Modi. An important decision has been taken in this Union Cabinet meeting. In this, the central government has extended the LPG subsidy scheme under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana by one year. The central government provides subsidy of Rs.300 per cylinder for 12 cylinders in a year to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana. In October 2023, the subsidy amount was increased from Rs.100 per cylinder to Rs.300. Meanwhile, in a meeting held yesterday, the government has decided to extend the ₹ 300 LPG subsidy for Ujjwala beneficiaries till 2025. (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana)

Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced that the Cabinet has approved the continuation of subsidy of Rs 300 to the customers of PM Ujjwala Yojana till 31 March 2025. He has clarified his opinion in the press conference that a total cost of Rs 12,000 crore will be spent for this. (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana)

Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet on Thursday also approved the decision to increase the dearness allowance of central government employees by 4 percent. After this increase, dearness allowance has gone up to 50 percent. Speaking about this, Union Minister Anurag Thakur had said that additional LPG connections will be provided in the next three years. Union Minister Anurag Thakur has also expressed the opinion that there will be a financial burden of Rs 1,650 crore.

PM Ujjwala Yojana : What is the Yojana?

Beneficiaries under Ujjwala Yojana are given free gas cylinders and gas grates. The subsidy received under the scheme is directly credited to the bank account of the beneficiary. So far more than 9.6 crore connections have been provided in the country. In August, the cabinet had approved the addition of another 75 lakh beneficiaries to the scheme.
