Leaders Online Desk: The Union Cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the PM-Surya Ghar free electricity scheme. This solar panel will be installed on the roof of the house. (PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana) This scheme provides up to 300 units of free energy every month to one crore households. 'PM Suryaghar' will provide free electricity
The central government has approved the PM Suryaghar free electricity scheme to encourage solar power generation. 300 units of electricity will be provided free of cost to the beneficiaries of this scheme.
Beneficiaries will get a subsidy of 60 percent of the cost of solar panels installed on the roof of the house under this scheme.
For setting up solar panels and other systems, customers will be provided with a loan from the National Bank for the remaining amount at an interest rate of 7 percent.
Solar energy panels that produce maximum three KVA electricity can be installed. Customers will get free electricity through this scheme.

To get benefit under this scheme one has to go to the link https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in and register. Anurag Thakur said that the subsidy has to be applied for through the National Portal. People can choose their preferred vendor among the vendors provided there. These vendors will install rooftop solar. Net metering will be done by the DISCOM after completion of the process from vendor to installation. The certificate will be uploaded on the portal and the subsidy will be directly remitted to the concerned person's bank account. Information will be provided to public on national portal. With the help of which they can choose the right system size according to their needs.
Step 1 – Register at the port https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Select your state and electricity distribution company. Enter Electricity Consumer Number, Mobile Number and Email.
Step 2 – Login with Consumer Number and Mobile Number. Apply for rooftop solar.
Step 3 – Once you get the feasibility approval, choose a plant from any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM.
Step 4 – After completion of first installation submit details of plant and apply for net meter.
Step 5 – Commissioning certificate will be generated from portal after installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM.
Step 6 – Once you get the commissioning report. Submit bank account details and canceled check through the portal. You will get your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
Thakur said that RWA will also benefit from this scheme. Discoms will have to upgrade the base frame and the Government of India will provide incentives to them. Panchayati Raj institutions will also benefit. Roof top solar panels will be installed on all central government buildings by 2025. Modules developed in India will also be included in this scheme. Through this scheme, 17 lakh people will get direct employment opportunity.
