Leaders Online Desk : Pakistan Suicide Bomb Attack : A major suicide attack has taken place in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a Pakistani driver along with 6 Chinese engineers have been killed in this terrorist attack. This is not the first time that Chinese citizens have been attacked. Earlier in 2021, 13 people including nine Chinese nationals were killed in a bus explosion.
A bomber targeted a convoy of Chinese engineers en route to their camp in Dasu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near Islamabad, Reuters reported. The terrorist rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a convoy of Chinese engineers and hit another vehicle. The death toll in this incident may also increase. The Chinese engineers who were killed were working on ongoing projects in Pakistan.
Terrorist attacks are happening continuously in Pakistan. Earlier on March 20, Gwadar port was targeted by Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Pakistan is developing the port with the help of China, which the local Baloch people oppose. Chinese nationals are often targeted by the BLA.
Local people in Balochistan have been rebelling against the Pakistani government for decades, but China has invested heavily here. China is building an economic corridor from Pakistan to its country, in which the Gwadar port and surrounding areas are to be developed. A large part of Balochistan is part of the CPEC project, which is opposed by the Balochistan Liberation Army.
