Udgir; Leading News Service: On behalf of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services of the State Government, the event was held at the Taluka Sports Complex in Udgir. In the Khashaba Jadhav Cup state level wrestling tournament, Kolhapur district team won the overall title by dominating in Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Women's category. Pune and Satara team became runners-up.
In the Greco-Roman event, the Kolhapur district team was undisputedly dominant and sealed the title with 172 points. The Pune district team had to settle for the runner-up position with 90 points, while the Sangli team had to settle for the third position. Kolhapur city team bagged the first position with the highest score of 135 points in the free style category. The Pune City team had to settle for second place with 130 points. Kolhapur district team stood third with 120 points. Kolhapur district team won the first position with 115 points as expected in the women's group. Satara team secured second position with 105 points while Sangli team secured third position with 105 points.
The prize distribution ceremony of the three-day competition was conducted by Sudhir More, Joint Director. Sports Minister Sanjay Bansode participated in the program through television system. On this occasion Deputy Collector Sushant Shinde, Deputy Director Sanjay Sabnis, Deputy Director of Sports Yuvraj Naik, District Sports Officer Jagannath Lakde, Deputy Collector Sushant Shinde, Member of District Planning Committee Prof. Shyam Dawle, Dinesh Gund State Sports Guide Shivaji Koli and other dignitaries were present. The gold, silver and bronze medal winners were awarded with prizes of Rs 60,000, 50,000 and 30,000 respectively.
