New facility of Income Tax Department leader

Income Tax Department is introducing new features on its website to help taxpayers. In this new season of filing returns, the Income Tax Department has introduced a new feature, through which taxpayers can track the notices received by the department with a single click.

This new feature of income tax department has been included in e-proceeding section. By clicking on this new tab, users will be able to track all pending tax proceedings at one place. All the letters and notices received by the taxpayer from the Income Tax Department will be available in a single tab. A search option is also provided to find them.

The Income Tax department has also explained about this new feature in the FAQ. Accordingly, the e-proceedings tab available on the e-filing portal is an easy way to electronically respond to all notices, instructions and letters issued by the Income Tax Department.

What's in this new tab?

• Defective notice under section 139(9).
• Information under section 245 – Adjustment of demand
• Prima facie adjustment under section 143 (1) (a).
• Suo-moto amendment under Article 154
• Notices issued by the Assessing Officer or any other Income Tax authority
• Communication seeking clarification To use this new feature, users will need PAN, ID and password for the e-filing portal. In some cases, activation may be necessary.

Due to this new feature, taxpayers will get a big relief. This will save them time; But it will be easier for them to track and answer tax related information.

According to the Income Tax Department, this new facility launched on the portal will reduce the compliance burden on the taxpayer. Also they will not need to go to income tax office for every work. Apart from this, it will be convenient for taxpayers to keep track of various other messages sent by the department including income tax notices.
