New Delhi, Leading News Service: The Supreme Court refused to stay the decision to hold the re-examination on June 23 for 1,563 students who secured grace marks in the NEET exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) had decided to cancel the grace marks awarded to these students and conduct a re-examination. However, a petition was filed against this re-examination. While ruling on it, the court refused to stay the re-examination. Therefore, the re-examination of these students will be held on 23rd June.
The Supreme Court adjourned the High Court hearing in the Neat confusion case
The Supreme Court has on Thursday (20th) decided to stay the hearing of the petitions filed in various high courts of the country in connection with the alleged confusion and confusion in the NEET examination. However, the Supreme Court has once again refused to stay the ongoing counseling of students for admission to medical courses.
A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice SVN Bhati is hearing the petition filed by 49 students along with the Students Federation of India seeking cancellation of the NEET exam. The petitioners have demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged paper cheating in the NEET examination and a forensic examination of the students who scored more than 620 marks.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) also filed a petition seeking transfer to the Supreme Court of petitions filed in 7 High Courts of the country regarding the alleged paper leak in the NEET examination. While hearing the petition, the bench had issued a notice to the central government and the NTA last week.
Vardhaman Kaushik, counsel for NTA, brought to the notice of the bench that even after the bench had issued the notice, the hearing of the NEET case was still going on in the high courts. The bench took cognizance of this and suspended the ongoing hearing in Rajasthan, Kolkata and Bombay High Courts.
Admit card of re-examination of 'those' students released
The Supreme Court had ordered re-examination of 1563 students who had been given grace marks by NTA. NTA had told the court that the re-examination of these students will be conducted on June 23. Accordingly, the admit card has been issued to all the students and the result of the re-examination will be announced on June 30, NTA informed the court.
