The identity of Sachin-Jigar is very special in the world of music. He recently debuted as a mentor on the singing reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'.

During a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, both of them openly discussed their experiences, the impact of social media and rejections in the music industry. Sachin spoke about the importance of the awards, while Jigar shared his intentions of supporting new talent. Read key excerpts from the conversation:

How excited are you guys to debut as mentors on 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'?

liver: too much. Sometimes as Bollywood composers, it becomes difficult to meet the talent at the grassroots level. But 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' is a great opportunity to meet such talent, understand and learn from their journey. Sachin and I are very excited because even before this we have always been ahead in giving opportunities to new talent. Because when we were starting, we were also inexperienced. We also had no one in the industry. Whatever opportunity we got, now it is our turn to give that opportunity to others.

In the last few years, social media has become a big platform for talent. What is your opinion on this?

Sachin: Of course, social media is a platform where if you are doing comedy, dancing or a singer, you can easily showcase your talent. This is a big opportunity. We have seen that songs, singers, comedy videos, and dancers go viral on social media. Then their followers also increase, due to which they can also release their own original work.

There are benefits from social media, but do you also see any disadvantages?

liver: Yes, there are many benefits, but the disadvantage is that sometimes people become famous quickly and forget the process of hard work. Success comes so quickly that people do not even take time to learn. Many times we have to explain to them that fame is fine, but learning is also important. Both of us (Sachin and I) meet him like elder brothers, explain with love and sometimes even scold him. It is our responsibility to keep them on the right path.

How do you view rejection?

Sachin: Rejection is part of creative work. Just 4 days ago we made a song, worked hard on it for 15-20 days. But the director, after listening once, said that this is not my song. We tried again, but he said the same thing again. We thought, no problem, we will make a new song. Rejection gives you a chance to do better. If you take it the right way, it becomes an important part of your journey.

How much importance do you give to awards?

Sachin: Awards are good for self-appreciation, but I don't think that awards decide your future work. Your work today paves the way for tomorrow's work. It is more important that your work speaks for you than being famous. If people like your song, that is the real award.

Ever felt that you should have received an award, but did not get it?

liver: To be honest, both of us never think much about it. Even today we sometimes pinch ourselves whether we have really become a music composer? When we started out, it also seemed like a big deal that we were working with Rajesh Roshan ji or Pritam sir. So we will be happy if we get awards, but our real happiness is in enjoying this journey. If our teachers and parents are happy, then that is the biggest award.
