Musheer Khan Ranji Trophy: Musheer Khan broke Sachin Tendulkar's record 29 years ago! | leader


Leader Online Desk : Musheer Khan Ranji Trophy Final : Young Mumbai batsman Musheer Khan broke the 29-year-old record of former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar by scoring a century in the Ranji Trophy final. Musheer has now become Mumbai's youngest player to score a century in a Ranji Trophy final. He has done this feat in 19 years and 14 days. The record was previously held by Sachin Tendulkar, who completed a century against Punjab at the age of 22 in the 1994-95 season.

Musheer's innings of 136 runs

Mushir completed his half-century on the second day of the match on Monday (Dec 11) while playing the second innings. Then on Tuesday (12th) when he came to bat, he led the team's innings along with his captain Ajinkya Rahane. After Rahane's dismissal, Musheer also completed his century in partnership with Shreyas Iyer. He has now become the youngest batsman to score a century for Mumbai in a Ranji Trophy final. He was dismissed for 136 runs. In his innings he faced 326 balls and hit 10 fours. His innings took Mumbai's total lead past the 500-run mark. Apart from Musheer, Shreyas Iyer hit 95 and Ajinkya Rahane hit 73 runs.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma was present along with Sachin Tendulkar at the Wankhede ground when Musheer was setting a new record in the Ranji Trophy final. Musheer's father Naushad Khan was also present at the stadium. He was seen appreciating his son's performance. Earlier, his elder son Sarfaraz Khan made his Test debut for India against England.
