Born on 15 April 1922 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Hasrat Jaipuri's real name was Iqbal Hussain.

Hasrat Jaipuri used to write poetry since childhood. Mother did not like all this, so she threw Hasrat out of the house. Hasrat was the maternal uncle of famous music director Anu Malik. Once Anu Malik had said while talking that uncle, now you have become old, you cannot write songs.

Hasrat understood this. After a few days, he wrote the famous song 'Sun Sahiba Sun' from the film Ram Teri Ganga Maili.

Mother had thrown me out of the house
Hasrat Jaipuri's father Nazim Hussain was in the army. His mother's name was Firdausi Begum. Hasrat Jaipuri was a person with poetic temperament since childhood. His maternal grandfather Fida Hussain was a well-known poet of his time. Hasrat had inherited his passion for poetry from his mother.

Although his mother was not a poet. Hasrat's mother did not like his poetry at all. Hasrat did not listen to her mother. Mother ordered that if you want to do poetry, then get out of my house.

Had to sleep on the footpath for several days without food
Hasrat came to Bombay (Mumbai) in the year 1940. After reaching Mayanagari, the real struggle of Hasrat's life started. Neither did he have money nor did he know anyone. Had to sleep on the footpath without eating for several days.

Meanwhile, he realized that he would have to do something to survive. After a lot of struggle, I got the job of a bus conductor. For this he got Rs 11 per month. He did this job for 8 years.

Life changed when I saw Prithviraj Kapoor in Mushaira
While working as a conductor, Hasrat started going to Mushaira to fulfill his hobby. One day during Mushaira, Prithviraj Kapoor's eyes fell on Hasrat Jaipuri. In those days, Prithviraj's son and actor Raj Kapoor was preparing for the film Barsaat. The old music directors and lyricists used to give a lot of trouble, so Raj Kapoor wanted to form his own group.

Prithviraj Kapoor introduced Hasrat Jaipuri to Raj Kapoor and gave her a chance to write the first song 'Jiya Bekarar Hai Chaai Bahaar Hai' in Barsaat. After this film, Raj Kapoor hired him at his house for Rs 300 per month, but Hasrat Jaipuri had complete freedom to write songs for others' films apart from Raj Kapoor's films.

Hasrat, Shankar- Jaikishan and Shailendra became a pair
After Barsaat, Hasrat Jaipuri wrote songs for many of Raj Kapoor's films. Only after the first film, Hasrat was paired with music directors Shankar-Jaikishan and lyricist Shailendra. His team made the songs of many films classics. After Jaikishan's death in 1971, the duo broke up. Hasrat Jaipuri was very close to Jaikishan.

There was romance in the mood of Hasrat Jaipuri
Hasrat Jaipuri's daughter Kishwar Jaipuri was also fond of writing. She also used to write poetry, but Hasrat Jaipuri refused to let Kishwar Jaipuri write poetry. This was revealed by Kishwar Jaipuri during an interview.

Kishwar had said, 'Daddy used to say that to become a poet, one has to love again and again. You won't be able to do that. There was romance in Daddy's mood, but he was not one to forget his wife and children. Saw someone's beauty and just wrote it. People look at romanticism from the perspective of lust, but it is not so. This is wrong.

When Hasrat Jaipuri was asked to write a song for the film 'Sasural', he did not understand what to write. South actress B Saroja Devi worked opposite Rajendra Kumar in this film. Hasrat did not consider southern actresses to be beautiful, hence he was not able to write songs.

A son was born after 7 years of marriage. As soon as Hasrat Saheb saw the child, a speech came out of his mouth. Those words were something like this – Your lovely face should not be visible to anyone, your glasses are ugly. Music director Jaikishan was also present there at that time. He immediately said, 'Found the face, now write a song on it.'

When Jaikishan asked him to write a song for his girlfriend
In those days, Jaikishan, from the music director duo Shankar-Jaikishan, fell in love with a girl, Pallavi. Jaikishan wanted to marry Pallavi, but Pallavi's family did not approve of this relationship. She was the daughter of a very rich family. At that time Shankar-Jaikishan were not big names in the industry.

He was going through a period of struggle. Jaikishan told Hasrat Jaipuri, 'Write such a song that Pallavi hears the song and comes running to me.' Hasrat wrote – There is no one here for me except you, the swinging and singing wind says, you leave everything and come. This song was from the film 'Dil Ek Mandir'. When Pallavi heard this song, she left everything and came to Jai Kishan.

Hasrat Jaipuri wrote many romantic songs in films, he is called the Prince of Romance. Although in real life he was against love marriage. He married a girl of his mother's choice at the age of 35. They have two sons Akhtar Hasrat Jaipuri, Asif Hasrat Jaipuri and a daughter Kishwar Jaipuri.

Jaipuri invested his earnings in real estate on his wife's advice. Due to the income from these properties, his financial condition was strong. Perhaps that's why he could devote his time as a lyricist.

Anu Malik told Hasrat- Now you have grown old, you will not be able to write songs.
Hasrat Jaipuri's sister Bilkis was married to music director Sardar Malik. Sardar Malik was the father of Anu Malik. In the 80s, the songs in Hasrat Jaipuri's films had reduced. In those days, Anu Malik was gradually becoming a hit in films.

One day Anu Malik reached Hasrat Jaipuri's house and said, 'Mama, write some songs, I want to include them in my film.' Hasrat wrote many songs, but Anu Malik did not like any of the songs. Hasrat wrote more songs, but according to Anu Malik, they were not good. A lot of time passed and when things did not work out, Anu Malik said to Hasrat Jaipuri, 'Mamu, now you have become old, now you are not allowed to write. Now you won't be able to write songs.

Anu Malik's words touched my heart
What Anu Malik said touched Hasrat Jaipuri's heart. In those days, Raj Kapoor was making Ram Teri Ganga Maili. The music director of that film was Ravindra Jain. Hasrat Jaipuri said to Ravindra Jain, 'Please allow me to write a song. I want to show someone what I can write?'

Ravindra Jain mentioned this to Raj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor allowed Hasrat Jaipuri to write a song. Raj Kapoor explained the situation of the song of the film and Hasrat Jaipuri wrote 'Sun Sahiba Sun'. This song sung by Lata Mangeshkar became the life of the film. In this way he showed Anu Malik that he can still write great songs.

Wrote 2000 songs for more than 300 films
Hasrat Jaipuri ruled the film industry for a long time. He wrote about 2000 songs for more than 300 films. He died on 17 September 1999 after a prolonged illness, but his timeless songs immortalized him. The song written by him 'Tum Mujhe Yun Bhula Na Paoge' will really not let you forget him so easily.
