The fire broke out at 10.30am (local time) at battery manufacturer Aricel in Hwaseong, south of Seoul. The fire broke out after a battery cell in a warehouse containing about 35,000 units exploded, local fire official Kim Jin-young said.
Yonhap reported that about 20 bodies had been found, but Kim said in a televised briefing that 9 people had died and 4 others were injured. Both are in critical condition.
