New Delhi, Leading News Service: 9 out of 13 leaders of BJP and NDA have faced defeat in the Lok Sabha after the ED-CBI investigation before the elections. They include Yamini Jadhav who contested from South Mumbai in Maharashtra, BJP leader Kripa Shankar Singh who contested from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh and Jyoti Mirdha from Nagaur in Rajasthan.
In Lok Sabha elections, more than 150 leaders contested the elections by changing parties. More than 13 of them were under investigation by ED-CBI and other investigative agencies. Out of these 9 leaders have been defeated. Ravindra Waikar won from Northwest Mumbai. The defeated Yamini Jadhav joined the Shinde group. Arvind Sawant of the Thackeray group defeated him.
Kripa Shankar Singh, who was once the leader of Mumbai Congress, later joined the BJP. ED action was going on against him in the case of unaccounted assets. He joined BJP in 2021. After that, he contested from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. However, they were defeated. ED action was going on against Tapas Roy in West Bengal. He joined the BJP in March. However, he lost from Kolkata North.
CBI and ED were investigating Geeta Koda, wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda. He joined BJP in February last year. However, he was defeated in the Sinhbhum constituency of Jharkhand. In Andhra Pradesh, former YSRCP MP Kothapalli Geeta and her husband P Ramakoteshwar Rao were charged by the CBI in 2015. He had contested from Araku constituency. They were also defeated there.
Praneet Kaur, wife of former Congress leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, was nominated by the BJP from Patiala. A central agency investigation was underway against his son. They too were defeated. BJP's Jyoti Mirdha from Nagaur in Rajasthan was also defeated as he flipped. Meanwhile, action was being taken against Pradeep Yadav of Congress. He did not change his party but was defeated.
