New Delhi, Leading News Service: Even before the commencement of the first session of the Parliament, it has been seen that the ruling and the opposition have started a dispute over the appointment of the Interim Lok Sabha Speaker. BJP appointed MP Bhatrihari Mehtab as Interim Lok Sabha Speaker. Mehtab was administered the oath of office by President Draupadi Murmu on Friday. However, Congress has opposed Mehtab's appointment.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh has accused the BJP of violating parliamentary tradition by appointing Mehtab as interim Lok Sabha Speaker. According to the parliamentary tradition, the longest serving member of the Lok Sabha is appointed as temporary Lok Sabha Speaker. However, Ramesh said that the Raloa government has violated the parliamentary tradition by fielding a senior MP for the post.
