Leader Online Desk: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was given insulin by the Tihar Jail administration due to high blood sugar levels. Arvind Kejriwal is a type-2 diabetes patient. His sugar level went up to 320. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sources informed today (23rd) that he was given insulin in Tihar Jail. Kejriwal is currently in judicial custody in Tihar Jail till April 23. Kejriwal was given insulin on Monday evening after the AIIMS doctor advised the jail administration to give a dose if necessary.

While not in jail, Kejriwal used to take 50 units of insulin daily. Earlier on Monday, Kejriwal said in a letter to the Tihar superintendent that his glucose meter readings were in the “dangerous” range between 250 and 320. He has also claimed that the prison administration is lying about his health “due to political pressure”.

Arvind Kejriwal also met his wife Sunita in the jail premises on Monday. On April 20, he was examined by AIIMS doctors. It was clarified that there was no serious concern for his health. Jail sources clarified that he was advised to continue taking the prescribed medication.

Kejriwal deliberately eats gaad: 'ED'

Aap had accused the Tihar jail administration of “conspiracy to kill” Kejriwal by denying him insulin. The insulin controversy escalated last week after the ED alleged that Kejriwal was eating mangoes, aloo puris and sweets every day in an attempt by Jariwal to raise his blood sugar levels and create a basis for medical bail. His lawyer countered the allegations that he had only taken mangoes three times in jail and had eaten aloo puri as a Navratri prasad.
