A 40-year-old man posted the video of Meloni with his 73-year-old father on an American adult content website. According to the BBC, the accused made the deepfake video in 2022, before Maloney became Prime Minister. In this, Georgia's face was superimposed on the adult film star's face. A defamation case was registered against both the accused.
According to the police, they were able to trace the accused by investigating the smartphone used to upload the video. Interestingly, some cases of defamation in Italy can be criminal and can result in a prison sentence in those cases. Meloni will testify in court on July 2. The indictment claims the videos were uploaded to a pornographic website in the United States and were viewed millions of times within months.
Meloni will donate the amount
Meloni's legal team said the compensation the prime minister is seeking is symbolic. The message of this compensation is that women victims of such crimes should not be afraid to raise their voices. If compensation is received, the amount will be donated to a fund to help women victims of violence.
