Israel prevents Palestinians from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque | leader

Leaders Online Desk: As the Israel-Hamas war continues in Gaza, Israel has restricted the entry of Palestinians to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Tens of thousands of Palestinians in the West Bank have been prevented from visiting the Al-Aqsa mosque by Israel during the holy month of Ramadan (Ramadan 2024).

Israeli authorities prevented thousands of Palestinians from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the West Bank. Al Jazeera reported that 80,000 worshipers arrived for the first Friday prayers of Ramadan despite Israel's strict restrictions on entering the Al Aqsa Mosque. But thousands of Palestinians from the West Bank were denied entry to East Jerusalem. There is heavy Israeli security around the mosque. Only people above 55 years of age are allowed to enter the mosque. Also all must have valid permission.

More than 95 percent of all Palestinians are barred from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, said Mustafa Barghouti, secretary general of the Palestinian National Initiative. There are very few people over the age of 55 who are allowed. This has made the situation more tense and people are angry. He said the tension inside the mosque was also high due to Israel's restrictions, beatings and incitement of people.
