Meanwhile, bad news has come for Kolkata Knight Riders. Actually, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer might be out of the opening few matches of IPL due to injury. Due to which the problems of the Kolkata team are increasing. KKR will begin their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23.
Shreyas Iyer recently played the final of the Ranji Trophy. Playing for Mumbai against Vidarbha, he hit 95 runs in the second innings of the match. In the meantime, he developed back problems again. He had a back surgery last year. Due to which he could not play even in IPL 2023. Kolkata Knight Riders was then led by Nitish Rana in his place. Now again Iyer's old injury has raised KKR's worries ahead of the 2024 season. Shreyas is KKR's captain and not playing him in the opening matches will be a wake-up call for the team, say experts.
Shreyas Iyer made his IPL debut in 2015. Since then, he has played 101 IPL matches and scored 2776 runs at a strike rate of 125. He has 19 fifties to his name in IPL.
