The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may change the schedule of the match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals on April 17 at the Eden Gardens. In this regard, both franchisees, state associations and broadcasters have been signalled.
Due to Ram Navami, this festival is celebrated with great pomp by people across the country. So the administration is confused about providing adequate security for the match on this day. The Lok Sabha elections are starting in the country from this month and considering all these factors, BCCI has also kept the option of postponing the match.
According to media reports, the BCCI and the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) are in constant touch with the Kolkata Police. No final decision has yet been taken in this matter; But the BCCI is said to have signaled both franchisees and broadcasters about the possible changes. (IPL 2024)
BCCI has scheduled the 17th season of IPL in two phases. Initially, the board announced the schedule of 21 matches in this tournament and after the announcement of the dates of the Lok Sabha elections, the schedule of the remaining 53 matches was announced. While preparing the schedule, BCCI has taken utmost care that the home away format should not face any problem under any circumstances.
It was believed that the IPL could be held in the UAE in the wake of the Lok Sabha elections; But BCCI dismissed all these speculations. However, now such a situation has arisen. In which the match between KKR and Rajasthan will have to be rescheduled. A senior official of IPL said that discussions are going on with the police administration and we will take a decision soon.
KKR and Rajasthan teams have started well in the current season of IPL. Both teams have played two matches each so far and have won both matches. Rajasthan's third match is against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede today (Monday), while KKR will face Delhi Capitals on Wednesday.
