'India' alliance offered Nitish Kumar PM post: JDU leader claims

Leader Online Desk: BJP led NDA has got a clear majority in the Lok Sabha elections. Once again BJP led NDA government will be established in the country. But the anti-BJP India Alliance also tried to form the government. He had directly offered the post of Prime Minister to Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) (JDU) chief Nitish Kumar, claimed Janata Dal United (JDU) leader K. C. Tyagi has done in an interview given to a news channel.

BJP-led NDA has won 293 out of 543 seats. Telugu Desam Party's N. Allies like Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U)'s Nitish Kumar helped the alliance cross the majority mark. The opposition India Aghadi made a strong run by winning 234 seats. Due to this, Tyagi has claimed that this alliance tried to form the government.

Nitish Kumar rejected the Prime Minister's offer

K. C. Tyagi has said that Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar was offered the prime ministership by the opposition India group in an attempt to bring him to the front, but he turned down the offer. He also said that the same people who opposed Nitish Kumar becoming the convener of India Aghadi offered him the post of Prime Minister. But he preferred to remain silent on the question of which leader had offered the post of Prime Minister to Nitish Kumar.

We are with 'NDA'

Nitish Kumar has rejected the Prime Minister's offer made by the India Alliance. We have joined the NDA and there is no question of looking back, we are with the BJP-led NDA, he reiterated at this time.
Nitish Kumar was the architect behind the establishment of the anti-BJP India Aghadi. He organized the first meeting of India Aghadi in Bihar's capital Patna last year. He was the chairman of this meeting. But in January 2024, Nitish Kumar again joined hands with the BJP-led NDA.

In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, Nitish Kumar's JDU has won 12 constituencies. Nitish Kumar has taken u-turns many times in his political career. In 2013, he broke ties with the BJP and joined hands with the Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress; but after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he once again joined hands with the BJP in 2020 and became the Chief Minister. Two years later, he broke ties with the BJP and formed a government with the RJD and the Congress. He again joined hands with the BJP in January 2024 and retained the post of Chief Minister.
