Sometimes his songs reach people's hearts more than films. Any film seems incomplete without songs. The emotions of the scenes can be captured better through songs.
A song does not take its final form just because of the singer's singing, but the most important role is played by the film's director and music composer. The composer is responsible for creating the tune of the song and the director is responsible for finalizing it.
In this episode of Reel to Real, we will understand the process of making songs. For this, we talked to lyricist Kumar, music composer Aman Pant, veteran music composer Lalit Pandit and singer Udit Narayan.
He told that sometimes big actors also take part in the making of songs along with the director. Shahrukh Khan himself finalized a song from the film Jawan. At the same time, sometimes some singers are not ready to lend their voice to a particular song. When Lata Mangeshkar was not ready to sing the title song of Amitabh Bachchan's film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, music composer Lalit Pandit had to convince her.
Story- 1- Lata Didi was not ready to sing the title song of the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Lalit Pandit has worked with Swar Kokila Lata Mangeshkar. He said, 'We had a family relation with Lata ji. My father used to learn music from his brother Hridaynath ji. Although when I met him for the first time, I was scared.
One incident is that I had asked her to sing the title song of Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan's film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, but she refused saying that she does not sing just one song.
I insisted on telling her that if you don't sing it, there is no one else who can sing it. After much persuasion, he listened to the tune and lent his voice to the song.
Story- 2- Salman had made a new antara for himself in the song Munni Badnaam. Lalit Pandit composed the song Munni Badnaam from the film Dabangg. He also wrote the lyrics. While narrating the story of this film, he said- I had composed this song long ago. There was a wait for a big film in which this song could be filmed.
I have an old friendship with Arbaaz Khan. One day we met. I invited him to my house to listen to the songs. He came and I played the songs for him. Then he told that he is making a film for which he needs a unique song. Then I played him the song Munni Badnaam. Arbaaz liked this song very much.
I wanted this song to be filmed on Salman Khan and Malaika Arora. Ultimately the same thing happened. Salman himself requested me to get Antara made for his portion because initially this item song was to be filmed on only one actress.
Story- 3- Shahrukh Khan got angry on the shoot of a song Shahrukh Khan worked with Juhi Chawla in the film Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. Shahrukh became very angry during the shooting of the song 'Banke Tera Jogi' of this film. Narrating this incident, Lalit said, 'After listening to the lyrics of this song, Shahrukh had asked to change its wording. He was not sure about this song. This was the first time he had said something like this. The film's producer Juhi had also asked for changes in the lyrics.
When I asked writer Javed Akhtar Sahab to change the lyrics, he refused. Ultimately this song had to be recorded with the same lyrics. Then when Shahrukh heard this song during the shoot, he got angry again. He called me and got very angry. Jatin and I reached Mehboob Studio to meet him. However, before we arrived, choreographer Farah Khan praised the song so much that Shahrukh agreed to shoot it based on her feedback. He also apologized to us.
Story- 4- Salman is interested in singing, Aamir recorded the final song in one and a half hour. Apart from acting and direction, many actors also show interest in singing. The names of Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan are also included in this list. Lalit Pandit says- Salman used to sit a lot in singing sessions. He is very fond of singing. We suggested that Aamir Khan sing the song Aati Kya Khandala for the film Ghulam.
Aamir used to come every night to practice this song for about a month. He did the final recording in just one and a half hours.
Udit Narayan said- Music is missing in today's Hindi songs. There has been a lot of change in the songs and style of films as compared to earlier. Singer Udit Narayan said about this – There has been a lot of change in the style of songs. Nowadays new creations are very rare. Remixes of old songs are being made. It is very important to have music in Hindi films, which is a bit missing at the moment.
