Visakhapatnam; News agency: Kolkata Knight Riders thrashed Delhi Capitals by 106 runs in the IPL league match here on the strength of Sunil Narayan and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. In this match, KKR scored 272 runs for 7 balls while batting first, in reply, Delhi Capitals were bowled out for 166 runs in 17.2 overs. (DC vs KKR)
Opener Sunil Narine got KKR off to a flying start with a blistering 85 off just 39 balls and the team never looked back after that. Although fellow opener Salt returned for just 18 runs, third-place finisher Angkrish Raghuvanshi gave Narine timely support with a 27-ball 54. The pair put on a century partnership of 104 runs for the third wicket. Narine was dismissed for the second wicket as KKR raced to 164 in 12.3 overs. (DC vs KKR)
Later, most of the batsmen continued to be dismissed in the attempt to hit, but the flow of runs also continued and this allowed KKR to post a mountain of 272 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a tough 273 for victory, Delhi Capitals got off to a poor start and could not recover at all. Both openers Warner (18) and Prithvi Shaw (10) were dismissed cheaply and the third and fourth-placed batsmen Mitchell Marsh and Abhishek Porel could not even open their accounts for so little.
Captain Rishabh Pant at No. 5 and Tristian Stubbs at No. 6, the experienced batsmen in the middle order, celebrated their half-centuries by batting brilliantly. But, perhaps this match was out of Delhi's hands even before that. Pant scored 55 off 25 balls while Stubbs scored 54 off 32 balls.
In bowling, Vaibhav Arora completed the quota of 4 overs with 3 wickets for 27 runs while Varun Chakraborty bowled 3 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. Apart from this, Starc took 2 wickets while Andre Russell and Sunil Narine took 1 wicket each.
