Leader Online Desk: Sensex and Nifty closed flat in the volatile session of the Indian stock market on Wednesday (19). But the Sensex maintained its record high for the fourth straight session today. The Sensex closed at 77,337 with a marginal gain of 36 points. While the Nifty settled at 23,516 with a minor decline of 41 points. Banking stocks remained the most bullish today. Due to this, Bank Nifty reached a new peak by approaching 52 thousand.
What is the situation on the regional front?
On the sectoral front, Bank Nifty gained 1.90 percent and IT gained 0.4 percent. While auto, capital goods, metal, oil and gas, power and realty closed down by 1-3 percent. The BSE midcap index fell 0.9 percent and the smallcap 0.5 percent.
Which stocks are bullish?
Shares of HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, IndusInd Bank remained the top gainers on Sensex. So these shares increased by 1 to 3 percent. Titan, LT, Bharti Airtel, Maruti, NTPC, Reliance, Power Grid, Bajaj Finance, JSW Steel, ITC, Ultratech Cement, Hindustan Unilever were the top losers.
Bank Nifty at new high, near 52 thousand
The Bank Nifty index was the top sectoral contributor among the major indices today. Shares of Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and IndusInd Bank gained around 2-3 percent on the Bank Nifty. This led Bank Nifty to hit a record high of 51,957 today. Subsequently, the Bank Nifty closed at 51,398 with a gain of 1.90 percent.
Shares of Delta Corp soar
Shares of Delta Corp, the only listed company in the casino gaming industry, rose nearly 15 percent to a high of Rs 151 on the BSE. After that the shares settled at Rs.148. Because the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council is likely to review the tax on online gaming in its meeting on June 22. Against this backdrop, the shares of the casino gaming company rose.
