Leaders Online Desk: The Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal has received a big blow from the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday (6th) in the Shah Jahan Sheikh case. The High Court had ordered Shahjahan Sheikh to be handed over to the CBI by 4.15 today. But they were still not detained. Shahjahan was detained by CBI Central Security Force today (6th) evening.

There was still doubt whether the Bengal Police would hand over the accused to the CBI or not. The police had refused to hand over Shahjahan, who attacked the ED team, to the CBI following the High Court's order on Tuesday. But today (6th) late evening CBI team entered outside Bhabani Bhawan police headquarters and detained Shahjahan.
In this matter, the West Bengal government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court and until the hearing is held in the Supreme Court, the custody of the accused cannot be handed over to the CBI, it was said by the West Bengal Police.
What exactly is the case?
On January 5, an ED team was on its way to raid the residence of former Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan in North 24 Parganas district to investigate the alleged ration distribution scam in West Bengal. This time the ED team was attacked on the road itself. Also the vehicles of the officers were vandalized. It was alleged that the attack was carried out by the supporters of Sheikh Shah Jahan. Sheikh Shahjahan was arrested on February 29 in this case. Apart from this, Shah Jahan and his companions have also been accused of sexual harassment and land grabbing by many women of Sandeshchal.
