Sharif got 201 votes while his opponent Omar Ayub Khan of Imran Khan's 'PTI' party had to settle for 92 votes. Pakistan went to polls on February 8. But no single party got majority. Finally after protracted discussions, PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party, which won the most seats, agreed to form a coalition government. Shahbaz Sharif had filed an application for the post of Prime Minister on Saturday (March 2). Members of Parliament voted for the post of Prime Minister today (March 3). On behalf of 'PTI', Umar Ayub Khan had filed an application for the post of Prime Minister. Chairman Ayaz Sadiq clarified that Shehbaz Sharif and Omar Ayub Khan were the prime ministerial candidates and instructed the members to vote. Members of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) raised slogans during the voting. In the end, the voting was done in chaos. Shehbaz Sharif got 201 votes. Shahbaz Sharif will be the 24th Prime Minister of Pakistan. He is 72 years old. He is the brother of three-time prime minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif. Shahbaz Sharif served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan from April 2022 to August 2023. Even at that time, he was running the government in alliance with PPP. The next one and a half to two years will be very difficult for Pakistan. We have to stick together during this time. We have to face our opponents. Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) surveyor and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Shehbaz Sharif is the best choice for the post of Prime Minister in this period.

Inflation is the biggest problem in Pakistan. The incoming government will have to provide relief to the people by reducing inflation, food prices and utility bills, as well as by stabilizing the local currency against the US dollar. Nawaz Sharif also said that Shehbaz had to face huge challenges during his short tenure in the previous government.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held on Monday

Shehbaz Sharif will be sworn in as Prime Minister on Monday, March 4.
