MLA Arjun Modhwadia was upset over the Congress high command's decision not to attend the consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. Ever since he made a statement against the party, there was talk that he would leave the Congress and join the BJP.

After resigning from the Congress, Arjun Modhwadia says, “When a party loses touch with the people, it cannot survive for long. The people of the country wanted to have a Ram temple. Congress also decided after the constitutional decision that we will support from the Supreme Court. Even after that, the invitation of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was rejected by the Congress party leaders. Then I raised a voice within the party that this decision of the party will hurt public sentiments and we should not take such political decisions. But that decision was lacking. I tried to convey my message to the party in many other respects, but to no avail. Finally today I have decided to resign…” said MLA Arjun Modhwadia while talking to the media.
