Legendary singer Asha Bhosle is celebrating her 91st birthday today. Asha Bhosle has been singing since the age of 10. Even though she has reached this age today, she is still a 20-year-old at heart. She still cooks her own food. Asha Bhosle believes that age is just a number.
Today, on Asha Bhosle's birthday, Padma Shri Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota and musician Anandji Bhai (Kalyanji-Anandji) spoke to Dainik Bhaskar. Anup Jalota said that Asha ji's voice can never grow old. Even today her show remains housefull.
It is not possible for others to sing in Asha ji's style
Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota says- Asha Bhosle ji has ruled the playback singing for so many years. The style in which she has sung songs is beyond others' capability. I had recorded a song with her for the film 'Patt Ki Baazi'. I had given music in it and also sang with Asha ji. Asha ji was very happy that there is a freshness in music. She sings the song after learning and understanding it well. She never hurried. After understanding the song well, she used to say that let's do the recording now.
Anup Jalota says that he cannot imagine anyone else other than Asha ji's voice in a cabaret song
Asha ji's song will continue
Lata Mangeshkar stopped singing after reaching a certain age. Anup Jalota says- Asha ji can never grow old. And, neither can her voice grow old, because she has always continued to meet people. She meets people as if she is a 30-35 year old person. She meets everyone lovingly.
She has a power of music. There is a youthful feeling of music in her. Just last year, at the age of 90, she did a housefull show in Dubai. She will never stop singing, she will always sing. Lata ji has stopped singing for some years, but Asha ji's singing will continue.
Outspoken and fair
The government had formed a committee for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Me, Asha ji, Salim Khan and Nitin Mukesh were selected in that committee. We had suggested Manoj Kumar's name for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Asha ji had paid a lot of attention to this selection. There were many names in front of her, she was thinking about each and every thing. She is a very clear speaker and unbiased.
A great singer as well as a great cook
Asha Bhosle is as good a singer as she is a cook. She has been fond of cooking since childhood, this hobby has given her recognition as a successful restauranteur. Asha Bhosle has restaurants in many countries like Dubai, Kuwait, Birmingham, Doha, Bahrain under the name 'Asha'. These restaurants are operated by the Wafi Group, in which Asha Bhosle has a 20 percent stake. North West Indian cuisine is served in these restaurants.
She considers herself to be 20 years old
Asha Bhosle performed in a music concert in Dubai on her birthday last year. During the press conference regarding this program, she said- I have been singing since the age of 10. Even though I am 90 years old, I am still 20 years old at heart.
This is the reason why she is still singing. She never gets tired during a music concert.
Along with work, Asha Bhosle's family is her first priority

Asha Bhosle says that age is just a number. Age increases, but the heart always remains young. I am still standing, singing and still cooking food for my children. From the very beginning, my family was my first priority along with work. I have faced a lot of hardships in life. I raised three children alone and got them married. I used to run away from work and come home to cook food. But this never affected my work.
I never thought of becoming a playback singer
Asha Bhosle, who has sung 12,000 songs in all languages so far, says, 'I have been singing since I heard my father sing in my childhood. I never thought that I would become a playback singer one day, but my life took such a turn that I became a playback singer. I am the last Mughal of the music world.'
Only Asha Bhosle could sing in O P Nayyar's films
It is said that for some reason, OP Nayyar had a rift with Lata Mangeshkar. In such a situation, he made Asha Bhosle sing songs in his films. Asha Bhosle sang one hit song after another under the music direction of OP Nayyar. Asha Bhosle became the second most famous singer after Lata Mangeshkar.
The credit for making Asha Tai into Asha Bhosle goes to music director OP Nayyar. He took full advantage of the range of Asha's voice.
Anup Jalota says- It was not that OP Nayyar had any differences with Lata ji on any matter. Rather, the style of songs in his films was such that Asha ji could sing in it. OP Nayyar himself used to say that whatever compositions he made, they were only for Asha ji.
