Filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap has made a big statement on Bollywood. Kashyap said that Bollywood often relies on star power rather than the real story. This is the reason why South Indian films are performing better than Bollywood.

In an interview to Indian Express, Kashyap said, 'In Bollywood, more emphasis is given on star power, whereas the South film industry focuses on real stories.'

He praised Fahadh Faasil's film 'Aavesham' in a conversation with The Hindu and said, “The makers of this film did not hesitate to cast three influencers in the lead roles. In Bollywood, such roles are only for big stars, who focus only on star power.”

Anurag also criticised Bollywood for repeatedly following the same formula. However, he said that when Bollywood presents new and original content, great films are made. He praised films like '12th Fail' and 'Laapata Ladies' and said, 'These films are successful only when something new is presented.'

In another interview, Kashyap accused Bollywood of wasting money. To this, he said, 'A lot of money is not spent on making the film, but on the promotion of the film and the expenses of the team.'

Let us tell you that Anurag Kashyap was recently seen in Vijay Sethupathi's film 'Maharaja' and 'Bad Cop' with Gulshan Devaiah.
