In the year 2002, Akshay Kumar and Shakti Kapoor had a huge fight at a Diwali party. After the party, both of them had given different reasons for the fight. Shakti had alleged that Akshay cheated in the card game and pushed him to stop. Akshay said that Shakti was using abusive language in the Diwali party.
After the fight, Akshay, while talking about this fight in an interview given to Filmfare magazine in 2003, had said that Shakti had come to that party uninvited. He was continuously using abusive language in the party. His language was quite embarrassing because there were many women in that party. He was so drunk that he couldn't even stand properly. I just gave him a light push, due to which he fell on the ground. If he says he saw me cheating in a card game, he is lying. He was so drunk that he didn't know what he was doing. I regret even touching them. I ask myself why I wasted my energy on an alcoholic.
On the other hand, Shakti Kapoor had given a statement different from Akshay. He had said, Akki (Akshay) was cheating in the game. I told him not to cheat, so he pushed me and I fell. He didn't slap me. I left the party immediately. I didn't want the fight to escalate. Akki is still my friend, although we never spoke after that fight.
