After 10 years..! Kolkata beat IPL champions, Hyderabad by 8 wickets









Leader Online Desk : The Indian Premium League (IPL2024) competition, which caught the attention of the entire cricket world, finally dawned after 10 years. The dream of the Kolkata team, which had been eluded by the IPL trophy for the last 10 years, came true. Kolkata won the tournament by defeating Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the final match. In 2012, the Gautam Gambhir-led team lifted Kolkata's stamp on the IPL trophy.

In the final match of IPL 2024, Kolkata defeated Hyderabad to win the tournament title. Batting first, Kolkata batsman Venkatesh Iyer's half-century and Rahmanullah Gurbaz's brilliant knock of 39 runs chased down the challenge from Hyderabad as Kolkata won the final match in 10.3 overs.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Hyderabad managed just 113 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 18.3 overs. This is the lowest score in IPL history. Earlier in 2013, Chennai had given Mumbai a target of 125 runs.

Hyderabad's innings got off to a poor start. Abhishek Sharma two runs, while Travis Head returns to the pavilion without opening the account. In the match, Hyderabad thundered before the accurate hitting by the Kolkata bowlers. Rahul Tripathi 9, Aidan Markram 20, Nitishkumar Reddy 13, Henrik Klaassen 16, Shahbaz Ahmed 8, Abdul Samad 4, Pat Cummins 24, Jaydev Undkat 4 runs scored. Bhuvneshwar Kumar remained unbeaten without opening an account.

Andre Russell took three wickets while Starc and Harshit Rana took two wickets each for Kolkata. Apart from this, Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakraborty got one wicket each.
